PET Prosthetics & Beyond: The Digital Interface

Dr. Richard J. Martin is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Lewisville-North Dallas, Texas. He is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry where he was elected Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Harlem Hospital-Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a one-year fellowship in Orthognathic & TMJ surgery at Oral Surgical Institute / University of Tennessee. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Martin has a special interest in instrument design and has invented over 20 instruments and facial splints to date. Dr. Martin has published several articles in various dental and plastic and reconstructive surgery journals as well as textbook contributions. Over the past 14 years, Dr. Martin has utilized a digital workflow and is considered as one of the “early digital adopters” and has contributed design concepts to several of the major implant companies. He holds an appointment on the subcommittee for dental implants r at AAOMS as well as a committee position for the AO. Dr. Martin also maintains an extensive lecture schedule where he teaches surgeons, restorative dentists and allied staff. He has been involved with Dental XP since its inception and continues to educate but online and in person on this platform.

Course Description
The utilization of digital technology & proficiency in PET, whether it’s abutment design or crown fabrication, can play a major role in the success and minimization of complications. The abutment design must respect biological principles and the prosthetics must compliment emergence contours. address both the critical and subcritical contours. Concepts will be demonstrated in both single, multiple and full arch cases"
