Update: Physical Therapy Management in Orofacial Pain-TMD and Headache

Diana Hearn, PT, DPT, OCS is team leader for the TMD program at Good Shepherd Penn Partners. She specializes in treating patients with TMD, headaches and orthopedic/cervical spine disorders. She completed her DPT degree from Arcadia University in 2009 and has been a practicing physical therapist since graduating from the University of Delaware in 1981. She is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and has been a treating provider at GSPP for 22 years. She is adjunct faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy at Arcadia University and serves as a mentor in the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at GSPP. She participates as a physical therapy mentor for dental residents studying oral medicine and physician fellows in the Headache Fellowship at Penn Medicine. She also presents at physical therapy continuing education courses and multi-disciplinary conferences on the management of TMD.

Course Description
Presentation will include review of the most current literature for physical therapy examination and intervention for those patients with Orofacial pain, specifically TMD and Headache. This will include a review of the referral process within Penn Medicine and GSPP, and multi-disciplinary collaboration with Penn Medicine referring providers.
Educational Objectives
- To understand current physical therapy clinical management for those patients with orofacial pain-TMD and headache.
