Monkeypox: Epidemiology, Clinical Recognition and Management

David Pegues, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Perelman School of Medicine that the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the Medical Director of Healthcare Epidemiology, Infection Prevention and Control and Associate Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include developing clinical decision support tools to improve diagnostic testing stewardship and reduce inappropriate medical device utilization; evaluating novel technologies and implementation strategies to reduce environmental microbial contamination and infection risk; and the epidemiology, prevention and control of emerging infectious disease threats, including COVID-19 and monkeypox virus.

Course Description
Presenter will discuss the clinical recognition and manifestations of human monkeypox infection, including oropharyngeal pathology, and review the epidemiology and testing, treatment and prevention strategies.
