Treatment Modality for Class II Malocclusion with Invisible Aligners

Yanheng Zhou, DDS, PhD, Adv Dip Orth HKU, M Orth RCS Edin
Dr. Yanheng Zhou is a professor of the Department of Orthodontics, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Orthodontics of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and an adjunct professor of Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Zhou is the founder and chief consultant orthodontist of the Sunny Dental Group.
He is a past president of the Chinese Orthodontic Society (COS) and the current vice president of the Oral Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics Branch of the Chinese Association of Plastics and Aesthetics (CAPA). He is an executive committee member of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), a past president of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS), a fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD), and an ambassador of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). He also serves as an editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Stomatology, Chinese Journal of Orthodontics, West China Journal of Stomatology, Beijing Journal of Stomatology, and Journal of Clinical Stomatology.
His main interests are in
• adult and pediatric orthodontics
• combined treatment of orthognathic and orthodontic approaches
• orthodontic treatment for periodontal diseases and temporomandibular disorders
• micro-screw anchorage
• Self-ligating low-friction technique
• customized lingual orthodontics
• orthodontics with clear aligners
His major research areas are
• mechanism and immunoregulation of orthodontic tooth movement
• application of stem cell and bio-inspired material in oral tissue defects repair
• genetic basis of skeletal malocclusion
• mechanism of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis
• conversion of oral stem cells
Until now, he has published more than 200 research articles, including 79 papers indexed by Science Citation Index (SCI) with impact factors of 351. He has been responsible for 17 national level research projects, with a total grant of more than 34 million CNY. He also holds fourteen patents. More than 60 postgraduate students have obtained their doctoral or master’s degrees under his guidance.

Course Description
This topic will teach the students how to diagnose and select the treatment options for the patients with class II malocclusion. The non extraction and extraction methods will be used for those patients to get the better results.
Educational Objectives
- The participants will learn from the lecture how they treat the patients with Class II malocclusion with invisible aligners.
