Management of Impacted Teeth

Dr. Tanna received his DMD from The University of Pennsylvania in 1990. After completing an AEGD program at Penn in 1991, Dr. Tanna joined the clinical faculty and engaged in clinical practice, clinical teaching, research and administration. With a strong desire to pursue advanced dental education, Dr. Tanna enrolled as a fulltime student in the combined Orthodontics/Periodontics program. In addition to receiving certificates in both specialties, he also completed a Masters in Oral Biology.
Dr. Tanna completed board certification for both specialties and is a diplomate of The American Board of Periodontology as well as the American Board of Orthodontics. He is currently an Associate Professor and the Program Director of the combined Orthodontics/Periodontics program and also the Associate Chair in the Department of Orthodontics at The University of Pennsylvania.

Course Description
Management of impacted teeth requires a multi-disciplinary approach. This lecture will focus on the orthodontic and periodontal management of impacted teeth. This presentation will discuss the etiologic factors, review the diagnosis as well as the appropriate time of intervention. Complications and risks before and after intervention will be reviewed. Surgical techniques as well as the orthodontic component of treatment will be presented.
