Advancing Latino Health Equity through Community-Engaged Research

Ana Martinez-Donate is currently a professor of Community Health and Prevention in the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University, where she has been since 2015. Prior to joining Drexel University, she was a tenured faculty member in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Martinez-Donate's research has been continuously funded by the NIH since 2007 and focuses on the behavioral and social determinants of population health, with a particular emphasis on Latino populations in the U.S. and Mexico. Her research is grounded in a social ecological framework and seeks to develop and evaluate community-based interventions for disease prevention and health promotion.
At Drexel University, she leads the Migration, Ethnicity, Racism and Health Working Group and is the founder and co-director of the Latino Health Collective, a multi-sectoral community coalition of Latino-serving organizations who work together to promote the health and well-being of Latino communities in Philadelphia.

Course Description
Dr. Martinez-Donate will provide an overview of her combined global and local community-engaged research portfolio focused on reducing health disparities for Latino immigrant communities.

- Identify study designs and methods suitable for mobile populations.
- Describe multi-level interventions to reduce Latino health disparities.
