Course Description
The second webinar of this four part series will explore the evidence on non-traditional oral health care providers and the various emerging workforce practitioners including Dental Therapists, Community Health Workers (Promotoras), and Community Dental Health Coordinator. Speakers will also delve into the ways that dental and medical care is being integrated to provide the best possible overall health outcome for the patient.
Educational Objectives
- Explain the role and functions of Community Dental Health Coordinators and their impact on community oral health and trust-building.
- Identify contributions of other health care providers to oral health, including screening, prevention, and referrals.
- Describe the role of Dental Therapists in providing cost-effective preventive and treatment services and their integration into the healthcare system.
- Discuss strategies for medical/dental integration to improve oral health equity and manage workforce redistribution.
