Dr. Clarke practices speech-language pathology specializing in pediatric speech and feeding disorders. She graduated from Kean University, with both a B.A. and an M.A. in Speech Pathology. Dr. Clarke also received her M.Ed. and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, researching speech motor control in the transition to spoken language.
Dr. Clarke opened Express It in 2016 to provide specialized interventions for motor speech disorders, orofacial disfunction, and behavioral and medical feeding disorders in children. In her practice, Dr. Clarke collaborates with physical and occupational therapists, as well as lactation and dental professionals to both learn and provide comprehensive treatments to her patients. Course Description
This presentation will discuss orofacial myofunctional disorders, identify causes, and identify the relationship between orofacial myofunctional disorders and sleep apnea in the pediatric population. The speech therapist's role in both the identification and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders and how this may help children with sleep apnea. Case studies will be presented.
