Long-term Stability of Orthodontic Cases Treated with Pressure Site Decortication Procedures

Dr. Roberto Hernández-Orsini is the current President of The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), serving the 2025–2026 term. He brings extensive experience in clinical practice, academic instruction, and national leadership in the field of orthodontics.
Dr. Hernández-Orsini maintains a private orthodontic practice in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and serves as an associate professor in the graduate orthodontic program at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine. He is also an assistant adjunct professor in orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. His academic and clinical expertise is complemented by his role as an ABO examiner and as a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, Midwest Component.
Throughout his eight-year tenure as an ABO Director, Dr. Hernández-Orsini has represented the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO). As ABO President, he leads the Finance and Executive Committees and collaborates with key professional organizations such as the AAO, WFO, SOE, and GORP.
He earned his dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico, completed his master’s and orthodontic certificate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and holds a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina. Dr. Hernández-Orsini has published multiple scientific articles and is a frequent lecturer at national and international orthodontic meetings.
His leadership, clinical experience, and dedication to orthodontic education make him a valuable contributor to this course.

Course Description
Cases treated with decortication procedures and bone grafting are successful in the immediate result by expanding the alveolar housing in which teeth are confined. However, limited data have been documented and published about the stability of these techniques. This presentation aims to share the long-term stability of the results achieved.
