Dental Stewardship in Practice: A Case-Based Discussion
Speaker
Kara G. Rosenthal-Fraiman, DMD, is a graduate of the accelerated six-year bio-dental program with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Penn Dental Medicine. She received her BS in 1990 from R.P.I. and her DMD from Penn Dental Medicine in 1992. Dr. Fraiman completed the advanced dental education program in the specialty of Endodontics at Penn Dental Medicine in 1994. She was an endodontist in private practice in the Philadelphia area for more than 20 years. Dr. Fraiman currently serves as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Penn Dental Medicine and is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics.
Daniel Mariche-Poirot, DMD, is the Dental Director at Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Philadelphia dedicated to advancing health equity for people living with HIV, LGBTQIA+ communities, immigrants, and other historically marginalized populations. In this role Dr. Mariche oversees dental operations, leads quality improvement initiatives, and advances integrated models of care that address the intersection of oral health, chronic disease, and social determinants of health. Dr. Mariche completed his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, where he gained advanced training in comprehensive, medically complex care. In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Mariche serves as a Clinical Associate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He teaches in both the Division of Community Oral Health and the Division of Restorative and Preventative Sciences. In this capacity, he provides clinical instruction, advances community-based dental education, and mentors students through the Community Oral health Honors Program, overseeing quality improvement projects that address population health and access to care. Driven by a commitment to health justice, Dr. Mariche is dedicated to transforming oral health delivery through public health policy, academic leadership, and system-level innovation to ensure equitable access to high-quality dental care for vulnerable, high-risk, and medically underserved communities.
John Benjamin Lankalis, DDS, is an Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and the Pre-Doctoral director of OMFS at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed his surgical training and medical school at Penn and received his DDS from Columbia University.
