Dr. Thomas Sollecito is the Professor and Chair of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and Professor of Oral Medicine in Head and Neck Surgery, Perelman School of Medicine. He is an Attending in Oral Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Diplomate in Special Care Dentistry and in Oral Medicine. Formerly, he was the Director of the Oral Medicine Residency Program and formerly served as the Interim Dean at the Penn Dental Medicine. He served as President of the American Academy of Oral Medicine and the American Board of Oral Medicine. He is a Section Editor of the Compendium Journal, and served on the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs. He has authored numerous papers and chapters related to various topics in Oral Medicine.

Course Description
As the population ages, patients encountered in a dental practice, will have systemic diseases resulting in dry mouth. Furthermore, patients will be on multiple medications further impacting salivary flow. It is important to understand the implications of dry mouth on the oral condition.
