Intersection of Speech Language Pathology and Dentistry

Kaitlyn Blackwell, holds an Undergraduate degree in Communications with a Minor in Linguistics from Oakland University, and a Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Eastern Michigan University. Her academic and clinical training includes participating in research exploring the combined use of working memory and semantic feature analysis as a treatment approach for individuals with aphasia.
Kaitlyn brings clinical experience across a range of settings, including Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), Inpatient Rehabilitation (IPR), and home- and community-based therapy, with a primary focus on neurogenic diagnoses. Currently, Kaitlyn is employed at Moss-Magee Jefferson IPR and Rehab Without Walls Neuro Rehab.

Course Description
Overview of the profession of Speech Language Pathology and its intersection with dentistry. Particular focus on dysphagia and communication interventions for persons with disabilities.
