In this series, leaders and advocates for the equitable treatment of persons with disabilities will share their expertise on the unique needs of people with sensory impairments, behavioral problems, psychosocial issues, and other conditions requiring sensitive and comprehensive handling.

Course Description
The Persons with Disabilities Presentation Series is aimed at building awareness of the barriers to equitable oral health for individuals with disabilities, and developing competency to provide oral health care to this vulnerable population. Open to dentists and their support personnel at no charge. Dentists completing 18 or more of the courses within a three-year period will receive a certificate of completion from Penn Dental Medicine as a Disabilities Dentistry Clinician Expert.
Educational Objectives
- Learn to become a competent and willing provider of care for patients with differing needs.
- Learn to utilize best accommodations to optimize oral health through the lifetime focusing on preventing, reversing and arresting disease through evidence-based interventions in-office and at-home.
- Develop skills in prevention, primary care and maintaining oral health without being dependent on sedation and general anesthesia for the disabled population.
- Learn how team utilization can improve the quality of life for both the disabled individual and their families.
